In modern enterprises, providing secure and seamless Wi-Fi connectivity to corporate devices is essential. Microsoft Intune allows IT administrators to deploy Wi-Fi profiles to Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices, ensuring users can connect automatically without manually entering credentials. This guide walks through the steps to create, deploy, and troubleshoot Wi-Fi profiles in Intune.

  • Why Use Intune Wi-Fi Profiles?

Manually configuring Wi-Fi settings on multiple devices can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Intune Wi-Fi profiles streamline this process by centrally managing wireless network settings and pushing them to enrolled devices. This approach enhances security, ensures compliance, and simplifies IT administration.

  • Navigate to Devices > Configuration profiles.





  • To deploy a Wi-Fi profile in Microsoft Intune, follow these steps after navigating to the Configuration section under the Policy pane.




  • Navigate to Configuration Profiles in Intune
  • In the left-hand pane, go to Devices > Configuration profiles.
  • On the Configuration profiles page, click + Create profile to begin creating a new profile.
  • Platform - Windows 10 and Later 
  • Profile Type - Template 
  • search name Wi-Fi then create

Wi-Fi Configuration

  • Wi-Fi type: Select Basic  or Enterprise

WIFI Type - Set Basic
  • Supports simple configurations such as SSID, password, and automatic connection.
  •  Does not support advanced authentication methods like 802.1X Enterprise authentication.

Wi-Fi Name (SSID):  this is user will connect Network Name 
  • Connection Name: This is the name displayed on the device when connected
Connect Automatically When in Range
  •  Yes: The device automatically connects to this Wi-Fi when in range.
  •  No: Users need to connect manually

Connect to More Preferred Network if Available - 
  • Yes: The device switches to a better Wi-Fi network if available.
  •  No: The device stays on the assigned Wi-Fi network.

Connect Even if SSID is Hidden

  • Yes: The device will connect even if the network is not broadcasting its SSID.
  •  No: The device will only connect if the SSID is visible.

Metered Connection Limit
  • Fixed: Treats the Wi-Fi connection as metered, meaning Windows will limit background data usage.
  • Unrestricted: Allows unlimited data usage over Wi-Fi.

Wireless Security Type

  • WPA/WPA2-Personal (Selected in Image)
  • Requires a Pre-Shared Key (PSK) for authentication.
  • Suitable for small businesses without an authentication server.
  • Not recommended for large enterprises (use WPA2-Enterprise instead).


Pre-Shared Key (Wi-Fi Password)
  • Hidden for security purposes
  • Used to authenticate devices to the network.

Force Compliance with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)
  •  Yes: Ensures the Wi-Fi profile meets FIPS security standards
  • No: Does not enforce FIPS compliance.



  • Before deploying a Wi-Fi profile in Intune, it is recommended to first create a user group or device group then add member for better management and assignment. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth deployment process. then next



You may make sure that Wi-Fi profiles are only deployed to the right devices or users by utilizing Applicability Rules, which are based on particular criteria like Device Type, Operating System Version, 


  • After configuring the Wi-Fi profile policy in Intune, you can check its deployment status to ensure that it has been successfully applied to devices



  • Once you have completed configuring your Wi-Fi profile policy in Intune, you need to ensure that the policy is successfully deployed to the assigned devices. Here’s how you can check the deployment status and sync the policy.


  • Once you have successfully deployed a Wi-Fi profile in Microsoft Intune, users should be able to connect to the assigned Wi-Fi network without manually entering credentials. This ensures a seamless onboarding process for corporate devices.







  • Go to setting - network and internet - Wi-Fi  - Manage Known Network 
  • now you can see Intune Wi-Fi profile you can see its manage by administrator
